At Kippax North Primary School, we are very proud to be members of our school community. We want all our children to feel a part of it, and to represent our school. Wearing the school uniform helps us to do this. Our School Uniform Policy is carefully thought out and sets out our approach to requiring a uniform that:
· is of reasonable cost and offers the best value for money for parents and carers,
· has taken full account of the Education Act 2021 (Guidance about Cost of School Uniform)
· explains how we avoid discrimination in line with our legal duties under the Equality Act 2010
· clarifies our expectations for a uniform that is appropriate, affordable, practical and safe for all pupils
· A navy-blue jumper, sweatshirt, cardigan or fleece top with the school logo or plain
· A white shirt (preferably short sleeved) or polo t-shirt with the school logo or plain. Pupils may also wear a light blue or purple polo shirt in line with colours of the school logo.
· Navy blue trousers, shorts, skirt or pinafore
· A navy or light blue and white checked dress (summer)
· Black shoes, boots or plain black trainers. Shoes should be flat and appropriate for school. Your child should wear shoes that they can do up independently and which do not prevent them from running in the playground. For health and safety reasons, sandals, Crocs and heeled shoes or boots are not appropriate for school.
Additionally, children should not be wearing any jewellery in school. The exceptions to this rule are a watch and a pair of studs for pierced ears. If your child comes to school wearing anything other than plain studs, they will be asked to remove them. Children will be asked to remove jewellery which will remain the child’s responsibility. It can be a safety hazard and so all jewellery must be moved for PE. (see section 2 for religious requests and contact school).
Long hair (shoulder length or longer) to be tied up as much as possible. Children can be asked to tie hair up for specific tasks such as science experiments, woodwork, art etc. where not doing so would hinder the task or form a health and safety risk. Make-up and acrylic nails are not permitted to be worn in school. Nails can be painted.
All children at Kippax North Primary School will take part in PE every week and these will be either indoor or outdoor sessions. All children must and wear:
• Navy blue/black plain shorts, joggers or leggings
• A navy-blue hoodie with the school logo on or a plain navy-blue hoodie
• A white t-shirt (plain or branded)
• Trainers for outdoor PE
• Pupils that attend swimming will need a swimming costume/swimming trunks/shorts and a towel
